In other breaking news: Today is a Wednesday! I really like John Oliver’s stuff, this piece may be 11 months old, yet it is still up to date. I also like “the sausage principle”, it’s basically how the world works.

Oh sure, win the World Cup and THEN rag on FIFA. How convenient.

I’m quite conflicted about this recent news. I really like that this corrupt organization is finally reaping some consequences for their fraudulent behavior. What I don’t like is the precedent of the ‘world police’ role the US is playing, with the help of Switzerland.

I’m pretty sure that I, myself, didn’t do anything to win it. I might have consumed some alcoholic beverages but I can’t see where this might have helped Götze, Schweini, Müller et al.

Pro Tip: If you don’t want the USA to mess with your bribery scheme, don’t plan the bribes in the USA and/or run the money through American banks.

This isn’t Team America: World police. If you have the crimes committed in the U.S., the U.S. is going to come after you. If they didn’t want to fall under U.S. jurisdiction, they shouldn’t have used the U.S. financial system.
